Stamp Over

Performance – a collaboration with Aida Redza
Year: 2011
Duration : 1 hour

The challenges that one has to face in order to adapt oneself in a new culture and social structure inspired him to make a performance which took place in front of the Immigration office in Copenhagen. Amir placed a table and a chair in front of the office and dressed myself up as an “immigration officer” and stamped on pieces of paper using rubber stamps with text that included Approve, Rejected, Alien, Other, Exotic, Obey while Aida acted as a migrant football player. This public art performance drew curiosity from the people that passed by and created a temporary alternative environment where depressing reality was subverted through play.
